Mouse Island
The famous Mouse Island, Pontikonisi as it is commonly known in Corfu, is located opposite the area of Perama. Our guests can easily visit it by a walkway over a bridge connecting Perama with the opposite Kanoni area. Along the walkway, small boats offer a ride to Mouse Island with its natural beauty and the small church of Pantokrator, dating back to the 11th century. On Mouse Island, a religious celebration takes place on the 6th of August every year, making this the ideal date to visit the tiny islet. However, several boat trips are being organized daily to Mouse Island, especially during the summer months. Moreover, these trips can be combined with plane spotting, as the bridge lies directly in the path of incoming airplanes that land or take off from the airport, just a few meters away. In addition, from there you can also reach the small Holy Monastery of Vlacherna which dates back to the 17th century. The islet on which it is built is only 300 meters from the nearby coast. Particularly impressive are the wood-carved iconostasis, as well as the hagiographies which decorate this iconic church.
