Corfu Old Town

About

Corfu (or Kerkyra) is the biggest city and capital of Corfu Island. Its historical center, just 8 km from Hotel Perama, is one of Greece’s most charming and romantic places to visit. It is a perfect example of ancient Venetian and Byzantine art and architecture that will be able to fascinate you with its little streets and panoramic points. Surrounded by sea, the old town of Corfu is enclosed between its two ancient fortresses. During its long history, Corfu Island attracted the attention of many conquerors for its strategic position in the Ionian Sea. Today, it’s possible to recognize their transit from many historical sites and buildings in Corfu town. More than a single house, you will appreciate them all together, especially during and after the sunset. It will be an unforgettable experience to spend hours and hours just walking up and down the thousands of small paved streets, looking around to discover the old town’s secrets while buying presents and souvenirs to bring back home. Every single street and building will appear like an open museum, full of life and filled with surprises.
